Scholars and Their Supporters Create an Italian-American Literary Canon
ITALIAN CANONICITY: What might the canon of great Italian books look like from North America and Britain? That question drove Luigi Ballerini and Massimo Ciavolella, two professors of Italian at the University of California at Los Angeles, to begin a series of 100 Italian books in English translation, many out of print, that they consider to have been the most important for cultural exchange between Italian and Anglo-American culture.
