Scholars and Lawmakers Accuse Defense Agency of Cutting Funds for Computer Science
Scholars and lawmakers at a Capitol Hill hearing this month accused the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency of scaling back its support for basic computer-science research at universities, but Bush-administration officials said the agency was continuing to finance such research and defended its priorities.
The agency, known as Darpa, is the Pentagon's arm for bankrolling innovative research that could be important to the military but that is not yet ready to compete for money
