Scholars' Network Plans International Survey of Academic Freedom
An advocacy group for persecuted scholars around the world plans to establish country-by-country surveys of threats to academic freedom.
At a conference last month at New York University, more than 80 members of the Scholars at Risk Network discussed possible ways to monitor and evaluate academic freedom. The group, which is based at the university, plans to conduct a pilot survey of 10 nations, which have not yet been determined, said its director, Robert Quinn.
