Scholar Ends Boycott of Conference Involving Cornel West

After withdrawing from a conference on the philosopher Sidney Hook because Cornel West also had been invited to participate, and subsequently threatening to urge others to follow his lead, John Patrick Diggins has decided to attend the event after all.

Mr. Diggins, a history professor at the Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York, confirmed that he will participate in the conference, calling the whole affair a "misunderstanding."
