Saving the Environment and Feeding the World
To the Editor:
Malcolm G. Scully's article on Wes Jackson and his effort to feed the world on perennial grains was charming ("The Destructive Nature of Our Bountiful Harvests," Opinion, February 18). However, your nonagriculturist readers should realize that Jackson's project may not help much with the real challenge facing world farming in the next 50 years: producing three times as much food on the land we're already farming.
