Savannah State, Bradley Are Penalized

The National Collegiate Athletic Association has placed Savannah State University on probation for three years after discovering that a former assistant football coach there had provided free lodging and meals for eight prospective football players, encouraged team members to purchase anabolic steroids, and lied to NCAA investigators.

The association also found that the football program had inappropriately provided scholarships to two players who were ineligible to compete. The
