Instructors at Hartnell College, a two-year institution in Salinas, Calif., returned to work today after a five-day strike.
Faculty members reached agreement on Tuesday with the college’s administration on a salary deal that will give instructors 3-percent raises for 2004-5 and 2005-6, a 5-percent raise for 2006-7, and a cost-of-living raise for 2007-8, according to The Monterey County Herald.
Faculty members had asked for 4.6-percent raises for the past two academic years and a 7.19-percent raise for this year. They had been working without a contract for two years when they went on strike last week (The Chronicle, October 20).
