Safety at Work in Academe
To the Editor:
Who are we as workers? Do we have the freedom to choose our working conditions in order to prevent death or serious harm to our health? ...
As demonstrated by "Accidents Rise on Campuses as Inspections Decline" (The Chronicle, March 16), the academic community has rarely been placed under the scrutiny of Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspections, and fines have been low.
