Sacred Heart U. Settles Pregnancy Suit
A former basketball player at Sacred Heart University has settled a lawsuit in which she accused the Connecticut institution of dismissing her from the team and rescinding her scholarship because she became pregnant.
Tara Brady, who was the team's starting center in 2000-1, had accused Sacred Heart of violating Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which prohibits any educational institution that receives federal funds from discriminating on the basis of gender.
