SUNY at Buffalo Creates a Virtual Supercomputer
Researchers at the State University of New York at Buffalo announced last month that they have plugged more than 2,000 standard servers into fast network switches to create a virtual supercomputer. The resulting "supercomputer cluster," with 4,120 processors, will become the computational workhorse for a new bioinformatics center at the university.
