S.D. Senate Rejects Campus-Speech Bill
Public colleges in South Dakota have been spared the task of having to file annual reports on their efforts to promote intellectual diversity and the free exchange of ideas.
A bill requiring them to submit such reports was rejected by the State Senate by an 18-to-15 vote last month.
Eight Republicans joined all 10 of the state's Democratic senators in opposing the bill. It had easily passed the state's House of Representatives, which is also Republican-controlled.
