SAT Scores and Discrimination
To the Editor:
William Kidder, Susan Kiyomi Serrano, and Angelo J. Ancheta state that research "shows that SAT scores are weak predictors of college grades and graduation rates" ("In California, a Misguided Battle Over Race," The Chronicle Review, May 21). ...
My research shows quite the opposite. In a sample of 228 national and regional colleges and universities, the average SAT score was by far the most significant factor in explaining retention.
