Russia Promises to Clamp Down on Use of Fake Degrees in Hiring

In a country where Marlboro cigarettes and Nike sneakers are sold in both real and counterfeit versions, it's hardly surprising that university diplomas are available in both forms as well.
A Russian police report issued Monday on counterfeit diplomas managed to raise eyebrows, though, by describing the magnitude of the problem. At least 200,000 people in Russia have gotten jobs with fake degrees, according to the Russian Interior Ministry.
