Richer? Superior? Americans Abroad

I find much to admire in John Barbour's "The Moral Ambiguity of Study Abroad" (The Chronicle Review, October 6). I particularly like the implicit suggestion that a service-learning component might be usefully incorporated into study-abroad experiences. For example, last spring, upon returning from India, my students and I held a book drive on our campus that netted about 30 boxes of books for a library in India. ...
