Fictions of finance, fictions of Madoff
For the past eight years, I've been teaching a course at the Bread Loaf School of English called "Fictions of Finance." Bread Loaf is famous for spawning discussions (among other things) that continue well after our weeks in the Vermont woods, so it was unsurprising to me that I've recently heard from former students, most of them high-school teachers, fascinated with tales of the scamsters whose frauds have emerged in the wake of the market
