Revamping of Education Governance in Florida Reveals a New Political Order
By PETER SCHMIDTGov. Jeb Bush appeared poised last week to sign off on the last phase of a massive reorganization of education in Florida -- and, in doing so, to extend his growing influence over public colleges in his state.
Awaiting Mr. Bush's signature was an 1,800-page bill that revises all of Florida's laws concerning education governance, formally abolishing the state's old education system and grounding in statute a new system that will be overseen,
