Return Fire From FIRE
Jon B. Gould's attack on the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education ("Returning Fire," The Chronicle Review, April 20) is clearly meant as red meat for those in academe with a vested interest in pretending that free speech and academic freedom are not in danger on American campuses. Yet it is riddled with so much misinformation, obfuscation, and purposeful misinterpretation of the law that its value even as a polemic is dubious.
