Resident Assistants Seek Union at U. of Massachusetts at Amherst
Resident assistants at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst are seeking to become the first R.A.'s in the country to form a union, but university officials are trying to thwart the effort.
In April, students representing the university's 360 resident assistants filed a union-election petition with the Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission.
The R.A.'s have been organizing with the help of Local 2322 of the United Auto Workers, which already represents about 2,500
