Research-University Group Considers Stance on Earmarks
Presidents of institutions belonging to the Association of American Universities mulled the sharp rise in Congressional earmarks for academic research during their annual meeting last week, but reached no consensus about whether members should curtail their appetites for the money.
The executive committee of the association decided to ask the group's members to consider the pros and cons of earmarks, the appropriations that members of Congress secure for institutions in their districts
