Research Council Warns of Overreliance on Tests in Admissions
Colleges should be wary of relying too heavily on standardized-test scores in admissions and should be more candid about their admissions criteria, said a National Research Council report last week.
Yet the report, by a panel made up largely of supporters of affirmative action, concluded that the overall college-admissions process "operates fairly well."
