Republican Plan for Tax Bill Includes Education Benefits
Republicans in Congress agreed last week on a consensus version of a tax-cut bill that would provide $15-billion in education benefits over the next 10 years. However, President Clinton has vowed to veto the overall legislation for reasons unrelated to higher education.
The compromise, adopted by conferees from the Senate and the House of Representatives, includes key tax breaks for parents saving for college expenses and students
