Republican Budget Plan Could Impede President's Goals for Education and Science
The Republican heads of the Senate and House of Representatives budget committees agreed this month to a $1.8-trillion preliminary budget blueprint for the 2001 fiscal year, a figure that includes significantly less money than President Clinton wants for spending on areas like education.
