Provosts looking to make their institutions more internationally focused have a new resource: The American Council on Education has released a report, “A Guide to Internationalization for Chief Academic Officers.”
The guide maps out the provost’s role in leading internationalization, including making the case, giving legitimacy and focus to the effort, and developing a strategy to achieve the goals.
The fifth in a series of working papers on internationalizing higher education in the United States, the report is the culmination of a three-year project, the Internationalization Forum of Chief Academic Officers. The effort is supported by the Henry Luce Foundation.
Free copies will be distributed to chief academic officers of institutions that belong to the council. Copies of the report, along with related resources, also can be ordered at the council’s Web site. —Karin Fischer
