Religious Belief and Intolerance in American Higher Education

Candace de Russy's essay is an example of Orwellian doublespeak ("Rule by Those of Little Faith," The Review, February 22). She hails such virtues as religious toleration and "the liberal idea," yet she insists that "true learning must also include schooling in religious doctrine" and avers that the Department of Education's guidelines for nondiscrimination are discriminatory.
