Religion-Writing Course Takes Students and Professor Behind Bars
"Writing About Religion," Vanderbilt University
Ray Waddle, religion editor at The Tennessean for nearly two decades and an adjunct professor at Vanderbilt Divinity School since 2002, has taught many writing seminars. But this year, he taught in a new classroom: the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution, which houses nearly 700 convicted felons, eight miles from Vanderbilt's campus.
