'Reinventing the Male Homosexual: The Rhetoric and Power of the Gay Gene'
In the early 1990s, two biological studies of homosexuality drew wide media interest. First, Simon LeVey published research on differences in the hypothalami of homosexual and heterosexual men. Then, Dean H. Hamer released a study in which he correlated homosexuality with a genetic marker on the X chromosome.
