Regents College Changes Name to Emphasize Its Independence
While officials at neophyte distance-learning institutions hope that choosing the right name will help them build a strong brand, leaders at Regents College hope that their established brand won't be tarnished by a scheduled name change.
On January 1, the 30-year-old virtual institution is to be renamed Excelsior College (excelsior is Latin for "ever upward"). C. Wayne Williams, the president, says the change is an effort to sever the college's identification
