Record Increase Proposed for NSF
The U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee this month approved an increase of $614-million, or 13 percent, increase to the 2003 budget for the National Science Foundation. If enacted, the bill would give the agency $5.42-billion, its largest budget ever. The measure would provide no money for the AmeriCorps national-service program.
Congress is far behind on its efforts to enact budgets for all federal agencies for the 2003 fiscal year, which began on October 1.
