Record Companies Pledge to Warn People Suspected of Sharing Files Before Suing

The head of the Recording Industry Association of America has told a U.S. Senate panel that his group will start giving advance notice to people before suing them for sharing music illegally.

The warning would give suspected music pirates the chance to settle with the industry group before being sued, said Mitch Bainwol, chairman and chief executive officer of the RIAA.
