Disputes with 3 tenured scholars leave critics questioning the institution's response to dissent
For five months, James J. Murtagh was not permitted to set foot on Emory University's campus or contact his colleagues. In December, a university administrator, flanked by an armed security guard, ordered the tenured professor to leave the campus and to report the following day for a psychiatric examination to determine whether he could keep his job.
