Ragin' Cajuns Get a Fine and Probation
The NCAA has fined the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and placed it on probation for two years after finding that a men's basketball player illicitly used correspondence courses to make him eligible to compete, and that the football team held improper summer practices four years in a row.
According to the NCAA, the basketball player used correspondence-course credits to make up a shortfall of almost half a semester's worth of academic requirements for eligibility in the 2003-4
