Questions Plague Landmark Paper on Versatility of Adult Stem Cells
The tumultuous field of stem-cell research suffered another storm last month, as a landmark 2002 paper on so-called adult stem cells was called into question.
The paper, written by researchers at the University of Minnesota Medical School and published in the journal Nature, reported that certain cells in the bone marrow of adult mice could be coaxed into growing into several different types of tissue, including blood, bone, and brain.
