Questions About a Pollster

The Boston Globe has an exposé this morning about Louis C. DiNatale, a longtime public-opinion pollster at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. It seems that Mr. DiNatale has also served as a paid consultant to a series of political candidates for several years, including three current gubernatorial candidates—lucrative practices that might well cast doubt on the integrity of his polling. After the Globe started looking into Mr. DiNatale’s unusual scholarship, a UMass official issued a statement that said: “To eliminate even the appearance issues, Mr. DiNatale has agreed not to accept any further private survey work.”
