Questioning the Teaching and Research of Joseph Ellis

Despite the passage of time and intensive commentary, the Joseph Ellis saga remains on our radar screens, refusing to fade away ("In Wake of the Scandal Over Joseph Ellis, Scholars Ask 'Why?' and 'What Now?,'" July 13). ... Friends and foes alike have criticized Ellis, expressing dismay and disgust. How could he have let so many people -- especially his students -- down? ... In the continuing search for some new angle, The Chronicle's article skirted, as have so many
