Qualcomm Co-Founder Gives $52-Million to U. of Southern California
Andrew J. Viterbi, a co-founder of the cellular-telephone company Qualcomm, and his wife, Erna, have given $52-million to name the University of Southern California's School of Engineering.
The school says it is the largest gift ever to name an existing engineering school. Mr. Viterbi, a trustee, earned a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from USC in 1962.
The school will be known as the USC Viterbi School of Engineering.
