Putting the 'Education' Back Into '.edu'
Educause, the higher-education technology consortium that is now the sole registrar for names in the ".edu" Internet domain, is weighing a suggestion that eligibility for the domain be broadened. That change, if accepted by the U.S. Commerce Department, would extend the domain to all postsecondary institutions accredited by any board recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. At present, only institutions approved by one of the six major American regional accrediting commissions qualify
