Putting Up the President
When Towson University's president resigned last spring under fire for alleged cost overruns in the renovation of the state-owned presidential home, it was nothing new to higher education. Articles appear in The Chronicle with some regularity about yet another chief executive officer caught in a similar situation. Why do so many leaders end up spending an excessive amount of university money on something that appears to benefit only themselves?
