Provision Deep in House Bill Would End Student-Aid Advisory Panel
Buried in a bill to reauthorize the Higher Education Act is a provision that would abolish an influential Congressional advisory committee.
The bill was passed this month by the House of Representatives. The provision, added by Rep. George Miller, a Democrat of California who is chairman of the House education committee, would eliminate the Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance in 2011.
