Protests Planned Against Law Denying Aid to Drug Offenders

Student activists on more than 100 campuses are planning a week of demonstrations this month to try to persuade college presidents to denounce a federal law that denies financial aid to students convicted of drug offenses.

Congress approved legislation in 1998 that denies aid to students who have recently been convicted in state or federal court of possessing or selling illicit drugs.
