Proposed NCAA Study of Football Rubs the Sport's Powerhouses the Wrong Way
Don't mess with big-time football. Don't even think about it.
That's the message that the rulers of the sport have for the National Collegiate Athletic Association, which quietly tried to suggest a football study late last month.
Commissioners of the Division I-A conferences sent a letter this month to Cedric W. Dempsey, the president of the N.C.A.A., telling him to drop a plan to have the Division I Football Issues Committee conduct an in-depth study
