Promise of Arrest Stops Banned Player
A former University of Notre Dame football player, accused of rape by another former student, decided not to return to South Bend, Ind., this month with his current team, West Virginia University. Cooper Rego, who was barred from Notre Dame in 1998, was told he would be arrested by the campus police if he came back.
Mr. Rego transferred to West Virginia in January 1998 upon being expelled from Notre Dame after a fellow student, Kori Pienovi, told the university that he had raped
