Professors Vote No Confidence in President of Modesto Junior College

Faculty leaders at Modesto Junior College voted no confidence on Tuesday in the college’s president, Richard D. Rose, The Modesto Bee reported. Mr. Rose became president 18 months ago, inheriting sinking enrollment and no strategic plan. The Academic Senate criticized his leadership style in a resolution, which they plan to present at a meeting tonight of the college’s governing board.

Mr. Rose told the newspaper that he was aware of the tension with faculty members, but that he did not know the vote was coming. “They went from 0 to 60 like that,” he said, snapping his fingers. —Paul Fain
