Professors Say Presidential Nomination at SUNY Campus Is Politically Motivated; Harvard Divinity School Names First Roman Catholic Head
Gov. George E. Pataki and some trustees of the State University of New York System are singing praises over the nomination of the Rev. Calvin O. Butts 3rd to be president of the system's Old Westbury campus. But faculty members and a few other trustees, including Candace de Russy, see sin in the process.
Old Westbury's College Council last month formally recommended Mr. Butts, pastor of the Abyssinian Baptist Church, in New York City's Harlem district, to be the college's president.
