Professors Group Says U. of Virginia Fired Physicist Unfairly

The American Association of University Professors says that the University of Virginia failed to provide a physics professor it fired in 1999 with the "basic protections of academic due proc-ess."

James S. McCarthy, who had been at the university for 29 years, was accused of misusing grant money. A report on the matter appears in the November-December issue of Academe, the association's magazine.
