Professors Can Be Parents, Too
In the third week of August, the fall semester started at Penn State. In September, just after Labor Day, the K-12 school year began in town. The deliberately uncoordinated schedules bespeak considerable cultural complexity, especially since Penn State is the largest employer in the area and the K-12 school district the second largest.
