Professor Says Arrest Was Racially Based
San Francisco State University has appointed an independent committee to investigate allegations of racial profiling following the arrest of a professor of ethnic studies by the campus police outside his department one night last month.
Antwi Akom, an assistant professor of black studies, said he was on his way to retrieve a book from his office around 11 p.m. on October 25 when he was stopped by a campus security officer.
The police say Mr. Akom refused to show identification
