Professor Accused of Spying for Cuba
In a federal indictment that was unsealed in court last week, a Florida International University professor and his wife, a university employee, were accused of spying for Cuba.
The indictment charges Carlos and Elsa Alvarez, both of Miami, with acting as agents of Cuban President Fidel Castro without registering with the U.S. government, according to a written statement issued by the office of the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida.
