Problems Remain After a Big Gift

Martin Van Der Werf's superficial and one-sided critique of Polytechnic University left many of us wondering what happened to balanced reporting at The Chronicle ("From Rags to Rags," April 11).

Following interviews with trustees and administrators at the university, Mr. Van Der Werf was fully aware that the sale of our Long Island campus was a strategic decision made by the Board of Trustees to consolidate all undergraduate programs at our Metro Tech campus in
