Probation for N.J. Man Who Sought to Buy Copy of LSAT

A man who tried to buy a copy of the Law School Admission Test for $5,000 was sentenced Friday to five years’ probation and was ordered to have his mental health checked.

According to The Morning Call, a newspaper in Allentown, Pa., Kevin Siangehin of North Plainfield, N.J., left notes and cash on the cars of two employees of the Law School Admission Council, based in Newtown, Pa. Detectives arranged a sting, during which Mr. Siangehin handed a detective $5,000 in a copy of The Economist.

Mr. Siangehin’s lawyer said he did not intend to sell the test, and only hoped to get accepted at a better law school. The Associated Press said Mr. Siangehin was a magna cum laude graduate of Rutgers University. —Lawrence Biemiller
