Students in Japan will be able to apply to Japanese universities via the Internet next year when an association of 120 private universities introduces an experimental online-application system.
The Japan Association of Private Colleges and Universities, which represents 20 percent of all private universities in Japan, will establish Internet-application centers in high schools throughout the country so students can apply to take entrance examinations at various universities in the association by submitting only one form. Currently, applicants fill out separate hand-written application forms and pay separate application fees for each university they are interested in attending.
